Opportunities for energy efficiency, water and waste management sectors and public procurement in the field of circular economy were the main topics of this 2-day trade mission.
9 organisations from Romania and 5 companies from France participated to this trade mission focused on Moldova and Ukraine.
On the 1st of February, all participants attended the conference "Supporting European Enterprises for Participation in Public Procurement in Non-EU Countries". This conference was the opportunity to discuss issues and solutions on circular economy sector in Moldova with SMEs. The conference brought together high-level dignitaries and beneficiaries of the EU4Environment Project. Then, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova took the most of this event to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
After a presentation of P2GreenEST support and services (trade missions, handbook and tutorials, helpdesk etc.) and next brokerage event in Brasov (Romania) in May 2024 by Cristina Colonna d'Istria, coordinator of the project and Diana Enachi, consultant responsible for the helpdesk service, a few local opportunities and projects were presented to the assemblee. Olexandr Shatkovskiy, expert in public procurement in Ukraine, explained to the EU participants how to get opportunities for SMEs in circular economy procurement in Ukraine. Then, Ala Mirza, advisor of the Mayor of Chisinau city hall presented very concretely and precisely the projects managed by Chisinau city in the field of waste, water, and energy efficiency. Afterwards, several projects’ opportunities in the targeted sectors and funding opportunities were presented by the National Office for the Implementation of Environmental Projects of Moldova, the Moldova Energy Projects Implementation Unit (MEPIU), the Legal and procurement Department of National Centre for Sustainable Energy of Moldova and the USAID MESA and Horizon Europe programme.
Before the networking lunch break, all EU (Romanian and French) organisations presented briefly their activity and their interests for public procurement in Moldova or Ukraine.
The Conference was attended by about 70 representatives from relevant public institutions and local business environment. In the afternoon were held bilateral business meetings and meetings with contracting authorities.
On the 2nd of February, a meeting at the Municipal Hall of Chisinau was organised for the whole EU delegation. During the discussion were tackled the possibilities of initiating projects in the Republic of Moldova in areas such as energy efficiency, waste management, IT infrastructure & telecommunications etc.
During the mission, the Romanian and French delegations held business to business meetings with various local companies and associations. It was an opportunity for EU SMEs and clusters to learn about Public Procurement in Serbia, Moldova and Ukraine and to introduce themselves to local authorities, meet potential partners and learn about the markets of interest of the targeted countries.
